As our horses age their teeth continuously erupt for most of their life. In the wild, horses teeth are well adapted for grazing on tough grasses. However domestication has changed how a horse chews and what it eats on a daily basis. Consequently, regular dental work is required to maintain oral health for a long and productive life.
If a horse is not going to be used for breeding purposes one of the best things we can do early in life is castration. As testosterone builds in the colt's body he may become more aggressive toward other horses or even humans. In addition, a Stallion can be more difficult to train and manage. Castration is one important way to help prevent undesirable traits from emerging.
